Phil Mickelson’s performance at the PGA championship was solid and spectacular. Mark, you that show off of an account was impressive enough to earn him a spot in the 2021 U.S. Ryder Cup team. With that being said, he stands a very high chance of being in the team and even better.
The PGA run in early March had Lefty a single stroke clear off Kiawah Island. It translated to his ranking at 52nd on the U.S. points list and being left out Ryder Cup conversation.
When the U.S captain Steve Stricker was asked, this was his enthusiastic response. “Oh, Geez, I don’t know. If he were to go on and win here and continue to play some great golf. But, he hasn’t really played all that well up to this point, with spurts here and there.”
Phil’s championship is a great start off, and he is required to stay head high in his game to be considered for a spot on Team U.S. 2021 headed to the Ryder Cup. Even so, the opponents, Team Europe’s Captain, pointed out how much value he would bring onto the field for Team U.S.
In his own words, “If Phil shows any more form…, you’d want to have an experienced player like that. He was up there in Wells Fargo…, he’s very much a leader, so I think he’d be a good man to have around the team for sure.” Coming up fast is the Ryder Cup, so let’s be ready!
